Wow, pretty much 18 months since I posted on here.

I will be doing a “comeback” gig at “The Public” in West Brom this Friday 3 September 2010.

Who knows I may even do new stuff . Which isn’t yet written.

If not the classics will be rolled out like a dear old aunt at christmas who long ago forgot everyones names.

I have made the decision recently to press pause on my stand up exploits.

The reason is thus, I feel I have exhausted my existing material in the last 2 years and don’t want to merely beat the jokes to death on stage night after night.

So, barring my final gig on the eve of my 30th birthday I shall take the time away to try and develop some new material and ideas.

Hopefully, this will yield some good comedy crops which I can then share with my comedic chums and the public at large.

Thank you for all of your support, you know who you are.

I still intend on coming to gigs and whatnot to try and get my creative juices flowing, so you havent seen the last of me at all.

Dave Dinsdale wrote a review of my set performed 28 August 2008 at The Holly Bush in Cradley Heath.

“The second half was opened by Steven Dunne who told a stream of puns and jokes. I am still gratified that people put stuff in just for my benefit. His ‘back and to the left’ gag never gets a laugh except by me which is a travesty. There was some more edgy material which added a little shock value. Steve’s act hit the spot as the crowd were wanting jokes. It is probably the best I have seen him”.

An unknown Journalist for the Coventry Telegraph wrote a review of my set at the Giggling Badger at the Anker Inn in Nuneaton on 22 October 2008:-

“Steve Dunne was a mixed bag containing some inspired material, but gave the impression of being a comedian still mastering his trade”.

It is a strange feeling seeing reviews of your act by a non biased other. I am pleased at the reviews as they match my own feelings of the gigs mentioned.

Nice. By the way I was tempted to post the last review as the following.

“Steve Dunne … containing some inspired material, …. a comedian master… of his trade”.

But I am an honest fellow so I thought I would tell the truth.

On the bill that night, Paul Savage, Johnny Showaddywaddy Sorrow, Pete Smith, Steve Dunne and headlining Charlie Chuck with compere Alan Seaman.

A new gig in a lovely room also used as a skittle alley, the audience truly went with the night and nicely supported the acts.

Paul Savage ably warmed the audience up with his tales of intergalactic dairy, Johnny Sorrow proved why he is a circuit legend with several tour de force performances, those who were there will know what i mean.

Pete Smith continued with well told tales of shire discrimination and chat up escapades.

and Alan Seaman led the crowd as MC for the night.

I had a lovely time during my set with an audience willing and able to have a good chuckle.

Yes, tonight I stepped in by popular demand, well for promoters Pete Smith and Matt Turner, but hey they are popular and I agreed to play for them at their premiere gig at The Trent Bridge Inn in West Bridford.

A lovely room and lovely crowd led ably by Compere Matt Turner, all the acts had a great time, I highly recommend this to punters and acts alike.

Soon enough we were playing insult draw with the microphones ( its a legit form of soundtest, honest).

Doors opened and , blimey lots of people came , enough at least to fill the seats.

Technical and geographical problems ensued resulting in an amusing 20 minute marathon comperemanship by Pete Smith, compere.

I went on first, a true example of bravery.

It was nice, had I been in a farther afield venue, I could have been home by 10pm snugly warm in bed, but I stayed, my duties as hand stamper and door collecter forbade an earlier exit.

And it was fun, Pete had a good time as compere, I had a good time stamping hands.

Strangely, I worried about hand etiquette, do I take the hands in full before stamping ensuring a good print, or do i nervously try to stamp wih the least possible contact.

Admittedly i didn’t decide, in future I may just use a spray paint can or DNA sawb.
